Markes Little
Mr. Markes Little, 87, of Cleveland, MS, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2018, at his home surrounded by his family. Visitation will be 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Hill and Rev. Larry Braswell officiating. Interment will be in North Cleveland Cemetery.
Markes was born on April 2, 1930, to Hamp and Annie Lou Little in Mississippi. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. After serving in the military, he went on to work for Baxter until retirement. On March 31, 1956, he married Carolyn Pettit in Charleston, MS. He loved watching and supporting the Delta State University baseball team and also the Atlanta Braves. Markes was an avid hunter especially of turkey and was also a fisherman. Above all, he loved his family with all of his heart.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Hamp and Annie Lou Little; brothers, Hamp Little, Jr. and Carson Little; and sister, Sis Dahl.
Markes is survived by his wife, Carolyn Little ; sons, Randy Little (Tammy) and Mike Little (Suzy); grandchildren, Megan Cunningham (Kyle), Kaley Joel (John), Miranda Bryant (Johnny), and Kolby Little; great grandchildren, Colton Brett Cunningham, Alli Kyle Cunningham, John Randall Cunningham, Alden Kate Cunningham, Jace Joel, Jax Joel, Koralie Bryant, John Upton Bryant, and Waelyn Bullock; and sister, Peggy Galloway.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Cunningham, John Joel, Johnny Bryant, Charles McIntyre, Hamp Little, Carson Little, Gary Galloway, and Jason Pettit.
In memory of Markes, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Batsons Children's Hospital, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
