Mrs. Martha Cile Odom Dean, 89, of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Bolivar Medical Center. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016, at North Cleveland Cemetery with Rev. Will Wilkerson officiating. Mrs. Dean was born in Greenwood, MS, on June 15, 1927, to Felton Chester Odom and Tommy Cile Harris Odom. She attended MUW and graduated from Delta State University with a B.S. in Business Education. After graduation, she was a teacher for several years in Merigold as well as Cleveland High School. On December 31, 1948, she married Charles W. Dean in Cleveland. They were married for 48 years until his passing in November of 1998. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing tennis and cooking. She was a lifetime member of Delta State Alumni Association, associate member of Junior Auxiliary, former member of Cleveland Garden Club, and member of Delta Home and Garden Club, Women's Club, First United Methodist Church, and the Women of the Church.
Of all her accomplishments, her greatest joy was her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Felton and Tommy Cile Odom; husband, Charles Dean; son-in-laws, Wayne Cole and Jeff Glover; brothers, Harris Odom and Joe Odom; and sister, Ann Schwartz. Mrs. Dean is survived by her children, Debbie Cole , Charles W. Dean, Jr. (Mary Claire), Tommicile Rogers (Lee) all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Camille Cole Woods, Martha Cole Brown, Haley Glover Rogers Wamble, Mary Cile Glover Rogers, Lorna Leigh Rogers, Merrill Dean Rogers, Will Dean, Duke Dean, James Walker Dean, Claire Michie Dean, John Dean, Matt Dean, and Pat Dean; and 8 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
