Mary Elaine Aycock

Mary Elaine Aycock, 80, of Yazoo City passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family Monday July 28, 2025 in Cleveland.

Elaine was born on October 26, 1944 to Seth Alton Collins and Carrie Lucille Anderson Collins in Yazoo City. She attended Yazoo City High School and resided in Yazoo City for 80 years before recently moving to Cleveland. She worked in customer service at the Southern Bag/ Hood Packaging Corporation for 38 years and served as a devoted caretaker for many family members throughout her life. She married the love of her life William Wayne Aycock on November 30, 1963 and shared 54 years together until his passing in 2017. She was a devoted Christian woman serving her church in many capacities during her lifetime as a true commitment to her faith in Jesus Christ. She loved her family most of all and was most proud of her two daughters and the families they each created, allowing her to be a loving “Maw Maw” to her four granddaughters and most recently two great granddaughters. Known for her loving, kind spirit; devoted thoughtfulness to others; genuine ability to care for others and second to none cooking skills she lived a full and forever ‘blessed’ life. She will be forever missed by her family including her special furry companion and best friend Barney Aycock and all those who had the pleasure of meeting her; she truly never met a stranger.

She is preceded in death by her parents Seth and Carrie Collins; devoted husband William Wayne Aycock; and siblings W. S. Collins, Frederick Collins, Julia Collins, John Collins, George Collins, Charles Collins, Barbara Faye Rodgers, Virgil Collins, Sonny Collins.

She is survived by her two daughters Selena Aycock Wies (Steve) of Cleveland and Angie Aycock James (Kevin) of Yazoo City; four grandchildren Anna Reed (Joey) of Cleveland, Emily Wies of Bay City, TX, Hannah Norwood (McLeod) of Meridian, and Lainey James of Yazoo City; two great daughters Ann Collins Reed and Maggie Reed; two brothers Larry Collins of Yazoo City and Travis Collins (late Donna Collins) of Indiana; brother in law Larry Aycock (Deborah) and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be planned at a later date in Yazoo City.
