Mary Ferri Sweeten

Mary Ellen Ferri Sweeten, 86, of Cleveland, MS went to be with the Lord October 21, 2020. A Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Cleveland, MS with Father Kent Bowlds officiating. Pallbearers are Jeff Tarsi, Henry Mosco, Drew Corley, Louis Cole, Bill McCrory, Brent Cartwright, Bo Brown, and Joey Brown. Honorary pallbearers Vic Tarsi and Eugene Antici.
Due to the current pandemic the family request for Mass to be for family only and required to wear a mask.
Mary was born to Albert and Elvira Ferri on July 27, 1934 in Boyle, MS. She graduated from Skene Consolidated School in 1953 and then attended Mississippi State College. She loved the Mississippi State Bulldogs and enjoyed attending many of the functions. She was very active with the Military Wives Clubs.
Mary loved her classical music, her crossword puzzles, game shows, novels, shopping, cooking, and reading the newspaper every day. She loved cooking for the church and her family and was always ready to help at all church functions. Mary traveled all through Europe while her husband was stationed in Germany on two different occasions. In the town of Cleveland, she was lovingly called "Aunt Mary" by many friends, young and old! She is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Elvira Ferri; son, Gary Dean Sweeten; brothers-in-law, Eugene Tarsi and Lloyd Brown; niece, Leigh Brown Janoush; nephew, Andrew Westerfield. Mary is survived by her daughter, Stacy Lynn Sweeten and her son , Darryl Scott Sweeten both of Pennsylvania; sisters, Jeanette Ferri Tarsi and Josephine Ferri Brown both of Cleveland, MS; nieces, Kerri Brown Mosco (Henry), Allison Tarsi McCrory (Bill), Lori Tarsi Cartwright (Brent), Kim Brown Westerfield, Joni Brown Cole (Louie), Michelle Tarsi, Bonni Brown Corley (Drew); nephews, Jeff Tarsi (Cindy), Bo Brown (Beverly), and Joey Brown (Stephanie).
She is also survived by 24 great nieces and nephews and one grandniece. Mary loved and enjoyed all of them. She never forgot a birthday and loved giving gifts She enjoyed being "comical" and was always the life of the party.
A special thank you to Mary's dear neighbors, Wanda Ledford and Took Mason. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church Building Fund.
