Mary Kline

Mary Disharoon Kline, 65, of Cleveland, died peacefully in her sleep on June 28, 2025, surrounded by her family.

Mary was born to Susan and Benjamin Disharoon on June 27, 1960, in Vicksburg, MS. She grew up the eldest of four sisters. In 1978, she graduated salutatorian of Chamberlain Hunt Academy in Port Gibson. She received her bachelor's, master's, and specialist's degrees in education from Delta State University.

In 1983, she married James Robertson "Freddy" Kline, and they settled in Benoit before moving to Cleveland in 2007. Mary and Freddy had two beloved children, Mary Clay and James Henry.

Mary spent her career at Presbyterian Day School, where she taught hundreds of students during her 35-year tenure. She was a passionate, exemplary educator who truly loved each student as her own.

A lifelong Episcopalian, she was an active member of Calvary Episcopal Church for more than 40 years.

Mary was thoughtful, kind, and courageous. Despite battling illnesses throughout much of her lifetime, Mary remained graceful, positive, and resilient, reminding others that "everyone has a purpose," while constantly pursuing her own, wearing a bright smile on her face.

Family was Mary's most treasured blessing. She is survived by her children, Mary Clay Kline of Knoxville, TN, and Jay Kline of Southaven; mother, Susan Disharoon; sisters Nancy Loome (Jim), Beth McDowell (Mark), and Jill Geertsema (Cameron); and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Freddy Kline, and her father, Ben Disharoon.

Visitation honoring Mary will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, in the parish hall of Calvary Episcopal Church. A second visitation will be held Wednesday, July 2, at Calvary Episcopal Church from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with a celebration of life immediately following. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Calvary Episcopal Church or Presbyterian Day School in Cleveland.
