Mrs. Taylor was born on November 7, 1918, to Steve and Betty Gordon of Shaw, MS. She and Curtis Taylor were married in 1946 after Mr. Taylor's discharge from the U.S. Army. Mrs. Taylor graduated from Shaw High School, worked her way through MS Agriculture Community College (MDCC) and graduated in 1941 from Delta State Teacher's College which was later named Delta State College and later was changed to Delta State University.
She was very dedicated to her profession as a teacher. Mrs. Taylor taught in the Mississippi towns of Taylorsville, Skene, Pace, Rosedale and then retired from her passion of teaching after 38 years. Mrs. Taylor was a faithful member of Pace Baptist Church until it closed. She then transferred her membership to Morrison Chapel Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school until her entry to Walter B. Crook Nursing Facility in November 2014.
Mrs. Taylor enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and loved visiting with family and friends. Holidays were a time she loved to cook and celebrate with her family. She was a dedicated Atlanta Braves fan and knew positions and names of the players on the team. Mrs. Taylor had an amazing sense of humor at her age.
She was very proud of and loved her sons, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
