Melio Sandroni

Melio Sandroni, 82, of Shaw, MS, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Crittenden Regional Hospital in West Memphis, AR. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 21, 2010 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Shaw, MS at 10:00 a.m.. Visitation will be from 6:00- 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. There will be a rosary following visitation at 7:00 p.m.. Burial will follow the funeral in Shaw Cemetery.
Mr. Sandroni was born February 3, 1928 to Marino Sandroni and Maria Caprini in Shaw, MS. He married Dorothy Morris in Shaw, MS. Mr. Sandroni served two years in the Army in Austria and served as Sergeant for ten years in the National Guard. He served as the treasurer of Columbus Club, the board of directors of Farmer’s Coop, board of directors of Delta Oil Mill. After serving as board member for eight years, he became president for forty-two years of Columbus Gin Association, and was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Sandroni was a retired farmer and a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Shaw, MS, where he also served on the finance committee.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marino Sandroni and Maria Caprini; and brothers, Gay Sandroni, Orelio Sandroni, Bruno Sandroni, Willie Sandroni, Orlando Sandroni, and Raymond Sandroni.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Sandroni; daughter, Holly Marotti of Marion, AR; two grandchildren, Brooke Burris (Brett) of Jonesboro, AR and Chamblee Witherspoon (Heath) of Marion, AR; and one great-grandchild, Bentley Burris of Jonesboro, AR; sister Celia Cuicchi of New Orleans, LA; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be James Cuicchi, David Cuicchi, Richard Cuicchi, Stan Sandroni, Todd Sandroni, Bert Mann, Lawrence Reginelli, and Jeff Sandroni.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Victor Baioni, Johnny Allegrezza, Joe Aguzzi, and Willie Baioni, and Robert Johnston.
Memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Shaw, or donations may be made to the Melio Sandroni Endowed Scholarship, MSU Foundation, P.O. Box 9760, Mississippi State, MS 39762.
