Mr. Gladden was born in Caddo Gap, AR on December 17, 1923, to Oscar Richard Gladden, Sr. and Odie Mae Robbins Gladden. He graduated from Skene High School in 1943, and proudly served our country in the United States Army 100th Infantry Division during WWII in France and Germany until 1946. During his time in the service he humbly received a Purple Heart. On November 10, 1947, he married Katherine Louise Aycock in Skene, MS. Throughout their 67 years together, he was a fully devoted husband to his "Honey Bun". He was a member of Providence Baptist Church for 63 years, and also served as a deacon there during his membership. He also served the local community as a Gideon. Mr. Gladden happily farmed for over 60 years, and he also enjoyed working in the garden and sharing his crop with his family and friends. He could often be found riding around in his truck delivering sweet corn to everybody he knew. His close relationship with people could often shine through due to the endearing terms people would call him like Peepaw, Birddog, Hotrod, Junior, and many others. In his free time, he enjoyed trips to Mountain View, AR to sit in Courtyard Square listening to country music, or spending time with his family who he loved dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Richard Gladden, Sr. and Odie Mae Robbins Gladden; wife, Katherine Louise Aycock Gladden; son, Joseph Richard Gladden; daughter, Kay Cheri Gladden; and brother, George A. Gladden. Mr. Gladden is survived by his sons, David L. Gladden (Peggy) and Paul D. Gladden both of Cleveland; daughter, Tina C. Gladden of Cleveland; daughter-in-law, Margie Gladden of Cleveland; grandchildren, Beth Gladden Kelly (Ronnie) of Cleveland, David Lee Gladden, Jr. (Whitney) of Madison, and Jenny Gladden Brackin (Joseph) of Cleveland; five great-grandchildren, Hunter Lee Kelly, Hannah Grace Kelly and Conner Joseph Brackin all of Cleveland, and Tucker David Gladden and Macy Maloy Gladden of Madison; and five sisters, Ladoska Crowder of Kathleen, GA, Flossie Doyle (Claude) of Hot Springs, AR, Wanda Egle of Chadron, Nebraska, Mary Kelly (Thomas) of Olive Branch, MS and Gloria Daniel of Bartlett, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved family members.
