Mr. Phillip (Felipe) Perez Lara, 80, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2018, at Delta Regional Medical Center.  Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home with a Rosary following beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Cleveland with Father Kent Bowlds officiating. Mr. Lara was born on February 5, 1938, to Luciano Ansaldua Lara and Benita Jimenez Perez Lara in Yorktown, TX.  On October 31, 1959, he married Oralia Salinas Soliz in Cleveland, MS.
He loved playing games and could often be found "sheating" in cards, playing poker with his children, shooting pool with friends, or enjoying a good game of Dominos or Bingo. With a personality that was known to draw people to him, he was always thrilled to tell a tall tale to anybody who would listen.
Mr. Lara was a master tamale maker who many would agree made the best tamales around.  In his spare time, he enjoyed going to his man cave and watching wrestling or listening to Mexican music. His love of this music led him to host many Mexican dances over the years as dancing with his wife was one of his favorite things to do.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Luciano Ansaldua Lara and Benita Jimenez Perez; grandson, Matthew Cordero Parr; and numerous other beloved family members.
Mr. Lara is survived by his wife of 58 years, Oralia Soliz Lara of Cleveland; children, Gloria Lara Hobbs (Brian) of Dunkirk, NY; Eva Laro Parr (Ronnie) of Mooreville, MS, Sara Laro Sumner (Michael) of Tupelo, MS, Jessie Laro (Diane) of Cleveland, Phillip Laro, Jr. (Tami) of Boyle, MS, Stella Laro Stuckey (Mike) of Cleveland, and Louis Lara of Cleveland, MS; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and siblings, Anjelita Huerta of California, Preciliana Lara of Florida, Mary Thompson of Florida, Luciano Lara, Jr. of Florida, Samuel Laro of Alabama, and Mary Janney Sanchez of Texas.
