Born on December 7, 1934, in Greenwood, MS, to Charles Albert Wright and Gertrude Jordan Wright, Phyllis lived a life devoted to her faith, loyalty to friends, and compassion for animals.
She is survived by her beloved children: Denny Kilpatrick (Jolanta), Debra Andrews (Jim), Daniel Kilpatrick, and Diane Paradise. Preceding her in death were her parents, sister Sybil Wright, and brother Charlie Wright.

For more than 30 years, Phyllis worked as a laboratory technician at Baxter Healthcare. Outside of work, she nurtured a special place in her heart for animals. She was baptized on July 15, 1953, at the age of 19, at Yankee Stadium in New York City as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Phyllis never met a stranger, and her kindness was extended to all, including the stray and feral cats she rescued over the years. She carried herself with style and grace, never leaving home without wearing her favorite lipstick. Phyllis will be remembered for her gentle nature and caring heart.
Among her most cherished relationships were her companion Wayne Spruill, and friends Paula Lofton, Birdie Horn, and her sisterly bond with Barbara Kendricks.
A private burial will take place at McNutt Cemetery on August 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception. A virtual memorial service will be held via Zoom on Saturday, August 30, 2025, with details to follow.
