It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard "Fly" Glenn Vardinman, 71, of Cleveland, MS. Fly, who was born on January 10, 1954, in the beautiful Mississippi Delta, left us peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family.
A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held this Friday, allowing family and friends to gather in honor of Richard’s remarkable journey through life.
Fly was a devoted father to his daughters, who he loved dearly. Known for his hardworking spirit, he spent his life as a talented handyman, always ready to lend a helping hand to those around him. He was a man of many stories and laughter, and he took pride in his family, expressing his love in his own unique way—whether through playful fussing or generous wisdom. In his leisure time Fly enjoyed a well-deserved stiff drink of whiskey, often savoring life’s simple pleasures such as his son-in-law’s homemade burgers. He often reflected on the blessings of his long life, never imagining he would reach such an age. His resilience and zest for life inspired everyone around him, creating a legacy of strength filled with unforgettable memories. As we come together to celebrate Fly's life, we invite you to remember him as he was—a cherished father, a steadfast friend, and a spirited soul who embraced every moment. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Fly was proceeded in death by the woman who raised him Alberta Gilmore, as well as his mother Annie-Lou Vardinman
Fly is survived by his beloved daughters Melissa Culpepper (Anthony Culpepper), Alicia McGee, his son Salvador Payne, His step-daughters Ericka Davis, and Yolanda Gee. Fly is also survived by his grandchildren Ericka Compos, Dominesha Garth, Braylon Brown, Akyla Payne, Nayeli Payne, Malaysia Payne, his great-grandchild Margaux Compos, and his siblings Cora Green, Timothy Smith.
