Robert Gene Avritt, age 54, of Greenville, passed away unexpectedly on May 25th while in Costa Rica. Memorial service will be at 5:00 p.m.at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, Sunday, May 30.
Bobby was born in Simpson County on July 1, 1955, the second child of Travis and Barbara Avritt of Shaw. In addition to his parents, he leaves behind his beloved wife, Lisa, his sons John Avritt (Paty) of Pensacola, Fla., and Jarad Avritt of United Arab Emirates, and stepsons, Joey Aplin (Catherine), Micah Aplin (Jody), both of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Eric Aplin (Amy) of Greenville, Miss., and cherished grandchildren Leigh, Logan, Georgia and Emma. He is also survived by his older brother Vern Avritt (Tina) of Greenville, Miss., and his younger brother David Avritt (Nancy) of Gulf Breeze, Fla. Also surviving are his three younger sisters, Rene' Royse ( David) of St. Louis, Mo., Sharon Sisk (Kevin) of Raleigh, N.C., and Anita Thomas (David) of London, England, as well as Bobby's adopted sister, Ikie Lloyd, of Greenville. "Uncle Bobby" will be especially missed by his three nephews and seven nieces. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, John Henry and Loueva Avritt, and maternal grandmother, Gladys Campbell.
Bobby graduated from Shaw High School in 1973, and served at the world headquarters of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New York for two years. He resided in North Carolina and Texas before returning to Mississippi to do what he always loved, farming the family land with his father. He later worked at Infipro Security Systems before starting his own company, Fortress Security, in Greenville.
Bobby was deeply loved and will be dearly missed by so many. He loved to make others laugh and was always kind and loving. His family and friends will always remember Bobby as being a faithful witness to his God, Jehovah, and was a member of the Shaw Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
The family would like to thank everyone for all the prayers and kindness shown during this difficult time, with special thanks to Rusty Rumley for his assistance and devotion to the family.
In lieu of flowers family is requesting contributions to be made to the Shaw Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Cards and letters can be sent to P. O. Box 1298, Greenville, MS 38702.
Interment will be private at Shaw Cemetery at a later date.
