Robert Dale Clifton, 74, of Benoit was called home to be with the Lord on March 7, 2023 in Cudahy, Wisconsin.
“Bobby” was born at home in Benoit, Mississippi, on September 10, 1948, to proud parents Robert and Claudia Clifton. As a baby, he “worked” outside with his parents, while under the careful watch of family dog “Butch.” Bobby became a big brother to little sister Sherry, who spent Saturday mornings helping him avoid being caught for sneaking the family hound dogs into the house while their parents went to town.
Bobby attended Benoit high school in Benoit Mississippi, and graduated in the class of 1967. He attended Nashville Auto Diesel College in Nashville Tennessee, and graduated in the class of 1969.
In the early years, Bobby worked at Baxter Laboratories. He welcomed daughter Jennifer in 1975 and son Wesley in 1980.
Together, the three of them enjoyed fishing, taking Bobby’s boat out on the river to check his trotlines for catfish, trips to the playground, and watching the planes take off at the airport. Bobby later worked as a farmer in the Mississippi Delta. He enjoyed many hobbies including car repair, refrigeration repair, welding, upholstery, planting trees, gardening, cooking and listening to music.Bobby was known and loved as “Grand-daddy” by Henry, Linda, and Xander, who enjoyed spending Sunday afternoons sharing lunch and watching old westerns with him.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claudia and James Robert Clifton, his former spouse Linda Kidd Lindsey, nephew Robert Grant Swales, and brother-in-law William Dale Swales.
Bobby is survived by his sister, Sherry Swales of Boyle, daughter Jennifer Ethier (Michael) of Randleman, NC, son Wesley Clifton (Kelly) of Milwaukee, WI, and grandchildren Kaden Ethier, Henry, Linda, and Xander Clifton, niece Traci Null (George) of Hattiesburg, and grand nieces Ireland, Madelyn, and Cameryn Null.
A visitation honoring Robert will be held Saturday, at Ray Funeral Home from 10-11 with a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00A.M. at Ray Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow in the Shaw City Cemetery.
