Roy Peacock

Roy Alon Peacock, 76, died peacefully on July 6, 2011, in Memphis, Tennessee after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 16, 1934 in French Camp, Mississippi, the only child of Robert Henry and Odie Henderson Peacock. He was a graduate of Friars Point High School in Friars Point, Mississippi, and served in the United States Air Force. Roy opened the Sherwin-Williams Paint Store in Cleveland, Mississippi in 1966 and managed it until his retirement in 1994. An avid fisherman and devoted family man, While in Cleveland he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cleveland and later a member of Bellvue Baptist Church in Cordova, TN. He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Jane Patton Peacock; his sons, Robert Brian Peacock and Bradley Roy Peacock; a daughter, Jena Peacock Miller; and seven grandchildren; Chandler Peacock, Jackson Peacock, Janie Peacock, Vancie Peacock, Robby Peacock, Sims Miller, and Miles Miller, all of Memphis. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shelby Farms Park Conservancy, 500 North Pine Lake Drive, Memphis, TN 38134. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home Saturday, July 9, 2011. Celebration of life services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Ray Funeral Home with Bro. Milton Burd officiating. Burial will follow services will be in North Cleveland Cemetery.
