Ruby Taylor Thornhill, 94, of Pace, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2015, at Cleveland Nursing and Rehab. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 27, 2015, at Morrison Chapel Baptist Church. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 27, 2015, at Morrison Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. John Thomas officiating. Interment will be in New Cleveland Cemetery.
Mrs. Thornhill was born in Cleveland on April 3, 1921, to Robert C. Taylor and Stella Lee Williams Taylor. She married Floyd Thornhill. She worked as the Post Mistress at the Pace Post Office for over 30 years. She loved people and enjoyed being with her community and church members. She took much of the community in as her own family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert C. Taylor and Stella Lee Williams Taylor; husband, Floyd Thornhill; siblings, Winnie Lee Pace, J.R. Taylor, Ralph Taylor, Curtis Taylor, Leoda Sewell, and Lt. Col. John Taylor; nephews, Leonard Pace, Jack Taylor, Buster Sizemore; and niece Sally Joe Lishman. Mrs. Thornhill is survived by her nieces and nephews, Shirley Sizemore of Cleveland, Tommy Taylor (Robbie) of Boyle, MS, Larkin Taylor of Pace, MS, Larry Pace (Lynn) of Cleveland, MS, Dr. James Taylor (Beverly) of Boyle, MS, Joe Sewell (Pam) of Dallas, TX, Lee Sewell (Patsy) of Thaxton, MS, Dorothy Newsome of TN, and Sandy Zerbinapoulos of Kenebunk; sister-in-laws, Maude Taylor of Pace, MS and Alice Taylor of Ft. Meyer, FL; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, and other beloved extended family members. Pallbearers will be Tommy Taylor, Larkin Taylor, Neely Robinson, Larry Pace, Charles Sizemore, Steve Sizemore, Kenny Lishman. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Lee Bassie, Joe Sewell, and Lee Sewell.
