Mrs. Ruth Lee Campbell, 96, of Cleveland, MS, passed away on January 28, 2018, in Collierville, TN. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. Interment will be in Delta Heights Memorial Garden.
Ruth was born on January 17, 1922, to Robert Edward Lee and Jessie Adell Horton Lee in Boyle, MS. On February 14, 1943, she married George Thurman Campbell, Sr. in Cleveland, MS. Ruth was known to be a hard and dedicated worker especially with her business, George's Lawnmower Service, which has been a family owned business since 1961. She worked up until her passing, stayed active in her business, and push mowed her own yard even in her 90's. Ruth was an efficient woman with a strong opinion, and was also kind and giving with a huge heart. She enjoyed to garden especially her pecans and vegetables and loved to cook fried chicken and pies. Ruth was the head of family reunions and cherished her time with her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Adell Lee; spouse, George Campbell, Sr.; and siblings, Maurice Braswell Haynie, Walter Lee and Bobbie Williams.
Ruth is survived by her children, George T. Campbell (Donna) of Cleveland, Charlie Campbell of Cleveland, and Linda Wax (Terry) of Galloway, TN; grandchildren, Mike Campbell of Greenwood, Tom Campbell (Babs) of Cleveland, Ricky Campbell of Cleveland, and Daniel Wax of Galloway, TN; great-grandchildren, Hailey Campbell, Ashley Douglas, Nikki Campbell, Cade Campbell, Mikayla Braswell, Ansleigh Braswell, Karlynn Wax, Michael Wax, and Brittney Wax; great-great grandchildren, Kaylee, Sylas, Elliot, and Bengermen; brother, Robert Lee of Cleveland; nieces, Denise Lee Evans of O'Reilly, Hilda Perryman of Las Vegas, and Lisa Molinari of Maryville, TN; and nephews, Jason Lee of Sevierville, TN and Danny Braswell of Las Vegas.
Pallbearers will be Stan Hutchinson, David Junkin, Pat Hardin, John Shamblin, Timmy Johnson, and Barry Campbell. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Campbell, Tom Campbell, Rickey Campbell, Daniel Wax, Keith Williams, Danny Braswell, and Jerry Junkin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Walter B. Crook Nursing Home 840 North Oak Avenue Ruleville, MS 38771.
