Ryder Edward Houser of Cleveland, Mississippi, passed away on July 8, 2025.
Visitation is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, at First United Methodist Church of Cleveland, followed by a memorial service at 5:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Chris Young.
Ryder was born in Germantown, Tennessee, on August 28, 2009. He was a student at Bayou Academy and played both football and soccer for the Colts.
Ryder had a spirit that was equal parts adventurous and kind, and a deep love for anything with wheels or an engine. He gained the nickname of Captain Danger at a very early age. He shared a passion for riding four-wheelers with his dad and sports cars with his Pop. You could find him riding his bike around Cleveland, stopping to visit with family and friends. Whether he was on a four-wheeler, riding the lake in a boat, or roller skating around town, he felt most alive when he was in motion. That’s where he found freedom, joy, and his favorite kind of fun.
Ryder also loved the outdoors. Hunting and being on the farm was where he enjoyed spending his time. Whether it was an early morning in the woods or riding through fields with family, those moments were full of laughter, peace, and connection.
He was a momma’s boy and was never far from her side. He loved his family and friends and was always looking for the next good meal. He had a special relationship with his little sister, Anelise. You could find them cuddling on the couch watching movies, and he had a kind and nurturing spirit with her from the moment she was born.
Ryder is survived by his parents, Marcia Wheeler Houser and Jamie Houser; sister, Anelise Houser; brothers, Cody Houser, Kyle Houser, and Coltin Houser; grandparents, Nott “Pop” and Martha “Fafa” Wheeler, and Dr. Betsy Barcroft “Bird” and Dr. Edward Harris; aunts and uncles Rachel Wheeler Gilbert and husband Chase, Morgan Wheeler McCain and husband Blake; Jon Houser and wife Marci; and cousins Holt and Presley Houser, Camden, Hadley, and Grady Gilbert, and Ben and Walker McCain.
Memorials can be made to The Well teen ministry.
