Spencer Hutchinson

Spencer Hutchinson, a beloved member of his community and a dedicated professional, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025, in Ecru, MS. A visitation will be held on May 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ray Funeral Home, in Cleveland, MS, followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. His final resting place will be at New Cleveland Cemetery, where a graveside service will take place at 12:00 PM.

Spencer was born on April 3, 1939, in Cleveland, MS, to Spencer Daniel and Lena Mae Shearley Hutchinson where he spent his formative years and developed a deep connection to his roots.

Spencer led a fulfilling career in the accounting department, proudly contributing to his expertise at Parchman and working with Chicago Mills. His educational journey included graduating from Skene High School and earning a master’s degree in business administration from Delta State University, reflecting his commitment to personal and professional growth.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Spencer was an integral part of his spiritual community. He was a longstanding member of the Cleveland Church of God, where he served as clerk for many years. Later on, he moved to Blue Springs, MS, and faithfully attended the New Albany Church of God. His dedication to helping others was well-known, and he made a lasting impact on those around him.

Outside of work and church, Spencer had a passion for reading and a knack for working on engines, particularly lawn mowers. His love for learning and exploring new interests endeared him to family and friends alike.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer Daniel and Lena Mae Hutchinson, and sister, Delphia Mae Pittman.

Spencer is survived by his beloved sisters, Mattie Hutchinson Wood (Sonny) and Peggy Sue Hutchinson Rigney (James), along with a host of nieces and nephews who will remember him as a kind and generous soul. He was preceded in death by his parents, Spencer Daniel and Lena Mae Hutchinson, and his sister, Delphia Mae Pittman.

Spencer will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of kindness and dedication to service will remain in the hearts of his family and friends.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Church Street Manor staff and nurses at Gentiva Hospice for the love and care they gave to Spencer.
