Mrs. Thelma Grace Cade "Blondie" Dean, 88, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, May 8, 2017, at Providence Assisted Living.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 12, 2017 at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services honoring the life of Mrs. Dean will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 12, 2017, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. James Breland officiating.  Interment will be in New Cleveland Cemetery.
Mrs. Dean was born in Coahoma, MS on September 5, 1928, to James Lee Cade and Emma Clyde Sidon Cade.  Mrs. Dean married Donald E. Dean on June 30, 1946.  She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, but worked as the church secretary at Yale Street Baptist Church for many years.  As a dedicated mother, she could often be found making home cooked meals for her family.  Her specialties were whipping up a fresh batch of warm gingerbread for them every day after school, decorating her home for birthday parties, and making holiday cakes. She also would sew their clothes and would even make matching clothes for their dolls.  She loved crocheting, making crafts, and arranging flowers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Lee Cade and Emma Clyde Sidon Cade; husband of 67 years, Donald E. Dean; son, Donald E. Dean, Jr.; sisters, Sadie C. Roberson and Mary Ellen Tharp; and brother, J.L. Cade.
Mrs. Dean is survived by her son, A. Scott Dean (Nan) of McCarley, MS; daughters, Patricia D. Ray (David) of Gatlinburg, TN, and Cynthia D. Weeks (Jimmy) of Cleveland, MS; daughter-in-law, Sandra P. Dean of Richmond, TX; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Felix Dean of Shaw, MS, and Ardis Dean of Heber Springs, AR; and sister-in-law, Aniece Harris of Clarksdale, MS.
A special heartfelt thank you goes to all the kind, compassionate staff of Providence Assisted Living and Grace Hospice for the wonderful caree given to our Mother.
Pallbearers will be Carson Childers, Chase Fuller, Todd Fuller, Totten Foster, Wheeler Brewster, and Michael Dean. Honorary pallbearers will be Carter Foster and Clayton Foster.
