Louise (Weegie) Walker went to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 16, 2020 surrounded by her family. Weegie was born on July 21, 1944 in Georgia to Robert and Pearl Strickland James and later moved to Shelby, MS. She graduated from Shelby High School and later graduated from Delta State with a Master's Degree in Education. Weegie taught for many years before leaving teaching to assist her husband with the family businesses. Over the years, Weegie was involved in many organizations some of which were the Cleveland-Bolivar County Library Board, Tri-Delta Sorority, The Friends of Dahomey N.W.R., Junior Auxiliary, the Women's Club and most importantly her church, First United Methodist Church.
Weegie is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Pearl Strickland James, husband, Leslie Walker; brother, Robert Mathew James. She is survived by her sons, Jimmy (Beverley) Walker of Pearl and Bob (Heather) Walker of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Cheryl Line, of Cleveland and grandson, Bo Walker of Cleveland. She is also survived by her nephews, Dr. Lance (Marcia) Line of Hattiesburg, Rush (Judy) Line of Pittsburgh, PA, Robert (Tish) Line of Purvis; step-grandsons, Jason and Brock Bailey of Pearl, and step-great grandson, Caius Bailey of Pearl and a host of great-nieces and nephews. A private graveside service will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2020. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to First United Methodist Church or the Cleveland-Bolivar County Animal Shelter.
