William Ray Wilson

Mr. William Ray Wilson, 88, of Cleveland, MS, passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at his home. Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019, at First Baptist Church in Cleveland. A Celebration of Life Service will follow beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019, at First Baptist Church with Rev. James Breland officiating. Interment will be in North Cleveland Cemetery.
Ray was born on November 5, 1930, to William and Jennie Wilson in Neshoba, MS. On June 1, 1958, he married Myra Jo in Mendanhal, MS. William was a Professor in the Mathematics department at Delta State University for 44 years before retiring. During his time at Delta State, he received 1st SE Kossman Outstanding Teacher Award Winner, the Lawrence L. Stewart Athletic Alumni Association Outstanding Service Award, and the Distinguished Statesmen Award. Ray loved to teach and visiting with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Myra Jo Wilson; and parents, William and Jennie Wilson.
Ray is survived by his son, William Andrew Wilson of Olive Branch; daughter-in-law, Amy Wilson of Olive Branch; sister-in-law, Maxine Walker; and grandchildren, Carley Douglas of Cleveland, Clint Wilson of Jonesboro, AR, Curt Wilson of Olive Branch, and Easton Wilson of Olive Branch.
Memorials may be made to the Ray and Jo Wilson Scholarship at Delta State University or First Baptist Church in Cleveland.
