Willis Cahoon Franklin

Mr. Willis Cahoon Franklin, 83, of Gunnison, MS, passed away January 6, 2017, at Bolivar Medical Center in Cleveland, MS. Visitation will be 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Braswell officiating. Interment will be in Shelby Cemetery. Mr. Franklin was born in Missouri on December 10, 1933, to Chip Franklin and Ibbie Chilton Franklin. On December 22, 1956, he married Margarett Louise Brock in Clarksdale, MS. He proudly served his country in the Army then went on to work as a farmer for all of his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing with his beloved grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chip and Ibbie Chilton Franklin; and brothers, Robert and Howard Franklin. Mr. Franklin is survived by his wife, Margaret Louise Brock Franklin of Gunnison, MS; son, Robert Franklin of Gunnison, MS; daughter, Lori Johnson of Gunnison, MS; brothers, Chipper and Billy Franklin; granddaughters, Jacinda Lindsey of Cleveland, MS, Nikki Franklin of Southaven, MS, and Krissi Franklin of Guntown, MS; grandsons, Bryan Johnson of Shelby, MS and Cody Cohen of Fairfield, Iowa; and eight great-grandchildren. In Memory of Mr. Franklin, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and/or Alzheimer's Association.
