Alice Braswell Obituary
Alice Ophelia Braswell, 96, of Linn, MS passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Walter B. Crook in Ruleville, MS. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of life services will be at Linn Baptist Church on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 2:30pm with Bro. Larry Braswell officiating and interment immediately following.
Mrs. Braswell was born December 4, 1916 to William Monroe Blessitt and Villie May Ray Blessitt. She was married in Choctaw, MS on May 7, 1932 to Lawrence A. Braswell, they were married for 37 years. She loved to garden, crochet, play dominos and sometimes you could catch her playing cards. She was an asset to the Linn community and was always taking care of everyone who was in need.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Monroe Blessitt and Villie May Ray Blessitt; husband, Lawrence A. Braswell; sons, Ralph Braswell, Charles Braswell and Bobby Braswell; grand children, Loyce Braswell and Debra Lee Braswell.
Mrs. Braswell is survived by her son, Buck Braswell of Raymondville, TX; daughter, Frances Downs (Morris) of Linn, MS, grand children, Wayne Braswell (Carla) of Lexington, KY, Larry Braswell (Alicia) of Cleveland, MS, Elizabeth Domino (James) of Hollandale, MS, Chuck Braswell of Jackson, MS, Vickie Williams of Jackson, MS, Chris Braswell (Vickie) of Cleveland, MS, Tammy Story (Mike) of Fort Payne, AL, Jeffrey Downs (Jeanne) of Madison, AL, Jimmy Downs (Lisa) of Huntsville, AL, Ricky Downs (Kay) of Boyle, MS, Michelle Pool (Mike) of Albuquerque, NM, and Brian Braswell (Gayle) of Senatobia, MS; Billy Simmons of Baird, MS; Katherine Braswell of Ruleville, MS; 29 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Braswell, Chuck Braswell, Chris Braswell, Jeffrey Downs, Jimmy Downs, Ricky Downs and Brian Braswell.
Memorials may be made to Linn Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 27 Linn Baptist Road, Doddsville, MS, or charity of choice.
