Dixie Petrie Obituary
Dixie Hawkins Petrie, 67, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at her home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Ray Funeral Home with Milton Byrd officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00- 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Ray Funeral Home. Burial will follow the funeral in North Cleveland Cemetery.
Dixie Petrie was born in Hattiesburg on January 14, 1943 to Rabon Adell Hawkins and Julia Bell Van. She married Jerry Wayne Petrie on August 24, 1964 in Cleveland, MS.
Mrs. Petrie graduated from Cleveland High school in 1961 and Mississippi State College for Women. She loved to collect antiques and spending time with her family. Mrs. Petrie was also a member of First Baptist Church in Cleveland.
She is survived by her children, Brian Petrie of Tupelo, MS, Julie Wiley of Birmingham, AL, and Jennifer Dorris of Burbank, CA; grandchildren, Justin and Savannah Dorris, Lindsey and Kenny Wiley, and Camden and Ella Petrie; three brothers, Mickey, Jack, and Kenny Hawkins; her mother, Julia Bell Van Hawkins; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be John David Hawkins, Curt Dorris, Ray Hawkins, William Hawkins, Andy Hawkins, and Brad Smith.
