Gladys (Happy) Corinne Howard Smith
Happy Smith (90) died at Senatobia Convalescent Center in Senatobia, MS. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Ray Funeral Home Wednesday, August 10, 2011. Services will follow visitation in New Cleveland Cemetery with Reverend Barry Dickerson officiating.
She was born in Canton, MS to Nona Adams Howard and Loyd Davis Howard. At an early age, she moved to Water Valley, where she grew up and graduated from Water Valley High School. She graduated from Belhaven College with a degree in Business.
She married Lt. Charles Milton Smith on June 14, 1942 in Water Valley. She was a typical Air Force wife, during WWII and accompanied her husband to various Air Force bases.
In 1946 the returned to Cleveland where she lived the rest of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband. They enjoyed 50 happy years together. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Smith Williamson, Patricia Smith Sellers, Peggy Smith Kaplan, Emmye Smith Walker, seven grandchildren, and seven great- grandchildren.
