Janie Marquis Obituary
Janie Faye Dowell Marquis, 71, of Cleveland, MS, formerly of Rosedale, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Bolivar Medical Center. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 Friday, August 26, 2011 at Ray Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Haney and Rev. James Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at North Union Cemetery in West, MS.
Janie Faye Dowell Marquis was born on June 6, 1940 to Sudie Kate and Edward "Bud" Dowell in Thomas Town, MS in Attala County. She loved to cook and bake for her family, loved word puzzle books and was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and aunt.
Janie is preceded in death by her parents, Sudie Kate and Bud; her sister, Dolly Pearl Long; her brother, Billy Don Rigby; and her nephews, Mark Todd Fryery and Shon O'Neil Fryery I.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn Ann Shaw (Richard) of Cleveland, MS and Carolyn Sue Stover (Rusty) from Clovis, New Mexico; step-son, Randy Marquis (Wanda) of Cleveland, MS; Three granddaughters, Stacy Lynn Bowie of Cleveland, Ms, Nikki Stover and Heather Stover from Clovis, New Mexico; two step-grandchildren, Brandon and Brett Shaw both of Cleveland, MS Three sisters, Laura Waudine Fryery from Benoit, MS, Ima Jean Diles (Daryl) from St. Petersburg, FL and Martha Ann Jarger from Tampa, FL; her nephew, Michael Anthony Fryery (Aurora) from Benoit, MS; Her nieces, Elizabeth Daine Fryery Komara from Stuart, FL and Lea Diles Cesares (David) of St. Petersburg, FL; and a host of great nieces and nephews that fought over her famous chocolate pies; and two great, great- nephews.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Shaw, John McDaniel, Thomas Haney, Jessie Fryery, Josh Fraize, Adam Fryery, Jimbuck Frazier, and Randy Marquis.
