Leona LaMastus Obituary

Leona Addie Hatfield LaMastus, 82, of Drew, passed away at The Home Place in Madison, MS on Saturday, December 29, 2012. Visitation will be 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life Services will immediately follow beginning at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Ray Funeral Home with Bro. Tommy Mahan officiating. Interment will be in Drew City Cemetery.
Mrs. LaMastus was born in Kansas on February 19, 1930, to Clarence Hatfield and Lena Jordan Hatfield. She was married to Marcus Edward (Buddy) LaMastus for 18 years. After his passing, she attended Delta State University and graduated with honors with a degree in Business Education. She worked for 30 years as a business manager in the public school system. Mrs. LaMastus was a past president of the Business Professional Women's Association, was a member of Friends of the Library in Sunflower County, loved to read, and was an excellent seamstress.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lena Hatfield; husband, Marcus Edward LaMastus; and daughter, Margie Bowen.
Mrs. LaMastus is survived by her daughters, Peggy Ferguson (Pete) of Poplarville, and June Love (Mark) of Madison; grandchildren, Luke Ferguson of Poplarville, Jill Weinacker (Gray) of Mobile, Marcus Bowen of Merigold, Robert Bowen (Joey) of Grenada, and Adam Bowen of Greenwood; 3 great-grandchildren, Brayden Weinacker, Baley Bowen, and Bryar Bowen; and brothers, Marvin Hatfield (Georgie) of Twin Falls, ID, and Don Hatfield (Nancy) of Hillsboro, OR.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the charity of your choice.
