Margie Sappington

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved wife, mother, friend, and family member Marjorie “Margie” G. Sappington.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS.  Celebration of Life will immediately follow at 2:00.  Interment will be at North Cleveland Cemetery. 

Margie was born October 24, 1949, to Dr. Charles Harlan Gazelle and Maurine Gazelle.  She grew up with a brother, Jack Gazelle (Houston, TX). 

Margie is survived by her husband of 46 years, Larry Sappington of Cleveland.  She leaves behind her children, Paige Gordon of Cleveland, Robert “Bob” Sappington of Cleveland, MS, Charlie Harlan Gordon Sappington of Cleveland, MS, Sam Sappington of Arkabulta, MS, and Wendy S McClain (Charles) of Rayne, LA.

Throughout Margie’s life she enjoyed many activities; but especially family parties, estate sales, and sharing love and laughter.  Margie was very passionate about her family.  She also took her nursing career very seriously.  She had a strong sense of loyalty and a much-enjoyed sense of humor.  Margie spent 42 years as a registered nurse.  The later years of her career she was a Hospice Nurse.  She was well known for her nursing skills.  Margie was highly respected by medical personnel that interfaced with her for many years.  She was a nurse and a blessing to the many families she attended to during difficult illnesses.  People that knew Margie would likely describe her as a bright sparkle of light, always with a warm smile and maybe a colorful word or two or three!  Margie brought much love and joy to our lives through her total dedication and unending love for us.  We will miss her presence as well as her bigger than life personality. 

We are deeply saddened by her passing.  It is a big loss for our family.  We will always remember the beautiful person that she was.  We take solace in knowing Margie is now at peace.  Rest in peace Margie.  You will be dearly missed by all who knew you and loved you.
