Mildred Swackhamer Obituary
Mildred Louise Morgan Swackhamer, 87, passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Cleveland Nursing and Rehab. Funeral arrangements will be held on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Milton Byrd officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 9:30 a.m. at Ray Funeral Home. Burial will follow funeral service in New Cleveland Cemetery.
Mrs. Mildred Swackhamer was born on March 5, 1923 to William H. Morgan and Mary Reese White in Skene, MS. She married her first husband Burlon Barbour on June 5, 1945. After his passing, she later married her second husband Ralph Swackhamer on July 16, 1976 in Cleveland. Mrs. Swackhamer loved sewing and singing in the First Baptist Church Choir.
She is preceded in death by her parents; William H. Morgan and Mary Reese White; her first husband; Burlon Barbour, and her second husband; Ralph Swackhamer, grandson; Terry Bennett, three brothers, and one sister.
Mrs. Swackhamer is survived by her daughter; Yvonne Barbour Bennett (Herbert) of Cleveland, MS, son; Burl Barbour (Ann) of Loxley, AL, grandchildren; Beth Duke (Jeff) of Cleveland, MS, Memorie Lyons (Jimmy) of Grenada, MS, great grandchildren; Morgan Duke of Cleveland, MS, Nik, Caleb, Colin, Lyons all of Grenada, MS, sister; Ethel Dempsey of Cleveland, MS, and brother; Brady Morgan of West Monroe, LA, a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Cleveland or charity of your choice.
