Mrs. Myrtle Ruth Nelson Shepherd, 89, of Cleveland, MS passed away, Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Indywood Estate. Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2011 at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of life services will begin at 11:00 a.m. immediately following the visitation Tuesday, January 3, 2011 at Ray Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Woods officiating. Interment will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2011, at Canton City Cemetery in Canton, MS.
Mrs. Shepherd was born October 2, 1922 in Roxie, MS to Hamilton Burton Nelson and Myrtle Elizabeth Graves Nelson. On August 21, 1942, she married James Walter Shepherd at the Columbia Army Airbase in South Carolina.
Mrs. Shepherd is survived by her children, James Walter Shepherd, Jr. of Fayettville, AR, Michael Richard Shepherd of Merigold, MS, Barbara Shepherd Hood of Homer, LA, William Nelson Shepherd of New Orleans, LA and John David Shepherd of Pioneer, LA; 9 Grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
