Walter Howarth Obituary

Mr. Walter Hamacher Howarth "Dub" , 86, of Skene, MS, passed away, Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Walter B. Crook Nursing Home in Ruleville, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at Ray Funeral Home from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.. Celebration of life service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Ray Funeral Home, Wednesday, June 29, 2011 with Bro. Frank Pevey officiating. Burial will follow services in Delta Heights Cemetery.
Mr. Howarth was born July 24, 1924 in Skene, MS to John Alexander Howarth and Marie Hamacher. He married Geraldine Weber, November 23, 1947 in Pace, MS. They have been happily married for 63 years. Mr. Howarth was a graduate of Skene High School. He served in the Army as Staff Sergeant during World War II in Japan. He was a farmer and owner of Howarth Salvage. Mr. Howarth was also a longtime member of Skene Baptist Church. He was also a member of Evening Lions Club, which he served as President. He attended two mission trips to Honduras with the Bolivar County Baptist Association.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine W. Howarth of Skene, MS; children, Walter Gerald Howarth (Joie) of Boyle, MS, Drew William Howarth of Hernando, MS; grandchildren, Natalie Howarth and Alex Howarth of Hernando, MS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Randy Howarth, Thomas Howarth, Jack Howarth, Harry Howarth, and Dennis Dean.
Honorary pallbearer will be Bennie Woodruff.
Memorials may be made to charity of your choice.
