Betty Latham Britt passed away at her home April 22, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was born with her twin brother, Bobby, on October 29, 1940. She spent most of her childhood growing up in a pecan orchard south of Beulah, MS She attended Rosedale Public School and graduated in 1958, She attended Delta State College and graduated in 1962.
Betty married Alton Haywood Britt Jr. at the Rosedale Baptist Church in August of 1961. They were married for 57 years.
In 1962 she began working for the Mississippi Department of Health and Human Services in the welfare department. She worked there for 30 years.
In the late 1990’s, she and Haywood retired and moved to Arkansas, where they spent 20 plus years loving the mountains.
She was always involved in her church and studied God’s Word daily. She was a member of Boyle Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Finner Barry Latham and Winnie Lott Latham. Her husband Alton Haywood Britt, her sister & brother -in-law Joy and Glen Knight. Her brother Samual Latham (Rita), her sister-in-law Julia Helen McGee Latham. Her mother-in-law Mary Britt and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Linda Sue & Gary Haney.
Betty is survived by her sons, Alton Haywood Britt III (Frankie) and Latham O’Neal Britt (Betty). Her grandchildren Alton Haywood Britt Jr “Hayes” Shelby Victoria Britt “Tori” Matthew O’Neal Britt (Kamaran) and Joseph Lamar Britt (Haley Bassie). She also leaves 4 grandsons, Alton Haywood Britt V, Liam Britt, Brady Britt and Rivers Britt. Her brothers Billy Latham (Linda) and Bobby Latham, sister-in-law Rita Latham. A host of nieces and nephews.
She was a Godly Southern Lady. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother that we called “Gran”. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Betty Celebration of Life will be at the First Baptist Church in Rosedale, April 25, 2026. Visitation will be 12:00 until 1:00. Burial follows at Beulah Cemetery.
